Ah yes, this week we have reached most parents’ favorite part of the day- Bedtime!
Bedtime doesn’t have to be a difficult part of the day. A little routine and some extra essential oil steps can help make it a good part of your day. My kids like to take turns on the BioMat before they get ready for bed, but they are a little extra….
We have found that getting our kids outside in the evening to get the last rays of sunshine as the sun sets is a great way to start their bedtime routine. The red light from the setting sun may stimulate melatonin production. Additionally we just find the fresh air helps wear them out!
We started using Unwind, a magnesium supplement enhanced with lavender and roman chamomile, for our five year old recently. He was excitable right around bedtime, and now asks for the Unwind if he feels he needs it. We mix it in a glass of cool water, to make what he calls his “watermelon drink”, and it definitely helps him relax.
Magnesium is a wonderful muscle relaxer, and additionally can help with stool softening and ease digestion. Be sure to check this supplement out if you have nervous kids, as it tastes great and is easy to use! (I empty a stick on my tongue like candy powder!)
If you feel your kids could benefit from some additional melatonin, be sure to check out the ImmuPro supplement as well. We keep it on hand for when we travel or need to change our routine. The extra melatonin helps them sleep quickly, and the mushroom powders and zinc in there help with immune support. We are definitely a #TeamImmupro family!
One of our kids’ favorite parts of their routine is getting the diffuser ready for bed. Lately we have been enjoying diffusing a relaxing combination of orange and cedarwood through the night, though SleepyIze is also picked a lot!
We use the Feather the owl diffuser, which means they can also pick the sound they want to play from the white noise selection, then we use the red light setting so they have less sleep disruptions, but also a nightlight in case they do wake up. (My oldest insisted I add the link for Snowy, the white owl diffuser, as she is his current favorite! He’s really into Harry Potter right now, and she reminds him of Hedgewig.)
This is Jerome in 2019 when Feather first was introduced.
And here he is today, with his Snowy, whom he named “Pretty”, because she is “so pretty”! 😉😂
How does your family unwind for the evening?
Stay safe & well! ~Naomi
