Homeschooling (and home work) helpers- part two The Midday Blues

Our homeschooling adventures continue…

Last week I shared our favorite morning starts- this week I want to cover everyone’s least favorite part of day, that slump after lunch! And while the title says for homeschool, this is a topic that applies to everyone, even YOU!

Learning about lakes & ecology by going to the lake in person.

Usually the afternoon slump starts because we eat lunch, then crash because we don’t channel that energy effectively. If you need to do PE, schedule it after lunch. Have a recess! Even if you are at a desk job, take the last few minutes of your lunch to move about & breath deep! Movement and oxygen will definitely help! And these few things might also…

Everyone of all ages in our homeschool enjoy Young Living’s Ningxia Red for the energy boost & the high antioxidants!

If you drink Ningxia Red, the super-high antioxidant drink made by Young Living, try either drinking your amount around 1:30-2pm, or divide your drink up to have half in the morning and finish the rest after lunch time. It’s low in sugar, can actually help regulate your blood sugar and as an added plus, can help reduce cravings throughout the afternoon. Try it! You may realize you can’t live without it! Like us!

MightyVites is a delicious multivitamin made from real whole food!

MightyVites, a real food based multivitamin, is also a must-have in the afternoon. We give these tasty treats (seriously delicious) after lunch to ensure our kiddos have food in their stomachs first, so no niacin flushing & their bodies utilize the vitamins efficiently. The B vitamins in there help with energy, plus it has a generous serving of vitamins A, C & E to help growing kids.

Rosemary essential oil is a great way to awaken the mind and be ready to learn.

My favorite memory boosting essential oil is rosemary! I actually do not like the pungent scent in large quantities, but that bracing aroma definitely alerts the brain & keeps the mind active! Try one drop in your diffuser with some citrus oils, or make a focus roller with lavender & cedarwood and add just one drop of rosemary to it, instead of the vetiver!

Try this Rosemary based diffuser recipe to have the memory boosting & refreshing scent in your whole room!

Last, I have to share my favorite pick-me-up, which is just to smell orange oil! It has this happy cheery scent that really reminds me to breath and take a beat for myself.

So many benefits from using orange oil, but ,y favorite is just its happy uplifting scent!

Our home always has all the citrus oils at hand so each person can choose their favorite. Place a drop in your hand, rub the oil in a bit, then cup over your mouth & nose to inhale! (We call this a scent tent.) You can also just drop 4-5 drops in your diffuser so everyone gets the benefits.

Stay safe & well oiled!
