I know it’s not quite fall yet, though the weather today definitely reminded us it is coming…
Fall is our favorite hiking season… and soon it will be here!
One change we like to make this time of year is to start running our diffusers more often, plus having a cold mist humidifier going at night.
A couple years ago I read a study that linked cold mist humidifier use in the winter (and, bonus, our water based diffusers do this too!) to less congestion and sinus issues in households. We used to have a lot of sinus infections and sinus headaches, and using a humidifier has greatly reduced those symptoms!
Even though diffusing does not put much water into the air, it does offer some humidity, plus the negative ions the diffuser creates help reduce dust particles in the air, thus giving you a chance at cleaner breathing. And an added bonus is the mental or physical soothing you get from the essential oils you add to the water.
If you have had a lot of sinus problems in the past winter months, I’d encourage you to get a cold air humidifier (one you can easily clean) and run it in your bedroom along with a diffuser. And if you need diffuser recipe inspiration, be sure you follow my Facebook page! I love a good diffuser recipe!
Another pro tip I have is to set up your diffusers to run some of the more scent heavy blends (like Thieves or Purification) that can really help clean the air when you aren’t home! It’s great to come home to a house that’s been refreshed all day or even weekend! (Use the intermittent cycle to get maximum diffusing time! My favorite diffuser is the Macaron one, which can diffuse up to 16 hours! I diffuse a “sleepy” oil all night, then reset it to diffuse a clean scent throughout the day.)
I‘d love to hear what changes you plan to make as fall approaches! ~Naomi
